Peel

Since I moved into my house, there has been what I call a “grassland” behind it. It really looks like a piece of the Sahara behind my house. It even has the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen. Well, yesterday as I sat in my office, I heard a crackling sound. Actually, it sounded JUST LIKE WHAT IT WAS. It was the sound of a tree being pulled from the ground. New construction is taking place behind my housing division, so they are pulling up all the trees and readying the ground for phase one of their project. Once the trees had been cleared out, I was able to take a look at my new clearer view. It was an uninterrupted view. I then began to reflect on life and how we are occupied by so many different distractions. The view I now see from any location of my house is completely different. It is without distraction. There are no more trees interrupting my view.

“I can see clearly now the rain has gone… It’s gonna be a bright (bright) sunshiny day!” -Johnny Nash

Lol sorry. that song came to me as I wrote this. My new picturesque view reminded me of life. Sometimes we are so blinded or distracted by the things that are in the forefront of us whether it be our thoughts or literally things or people in front of us, that we don’t take the time to see the real picture or the things that matter the most. Don’t you love metaphors? I do!!! : )

Sometimes we have to look deeper than the surface. We have to search further than arms reach to understand or even see the beauty of something. It is easy to settle with the most accessible, but there are layers to everything. Start peeling. You never know what beautiful surprise is waiting on the other side.
