The meetup spot! Washington (IAD) was the first official leg of our trip. With my best friend traveling from Ohio and myself from Florida, this offered us the best overall options for our entire trip including, ticket pricing and layover options.
We both had morning flights but with Ohio being closer to DC than Florida, I was up at 4:30 am getting ready to head out! I finalized my packing the night before, so all I had to do was wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed and wait on my Uber. Fyi: I scheduled my Uber the night before also.

Am I the only person who usually goes on vacation super tired? It never fails! Between packing, making sure things are good at the house and just any last-minute thing you can think of, I rarely get a good nights sleep before my departure. This trip was no different than the rest. I MAY have gotten 3 hours of sleep before that alarm went off! This zombie made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. I grabbed cash from the atm, boarded my flight and ALAS, I made it to DC! There was only about a 15 minute time difference between my best friend’s flight arrival and mine. I got there first and couldn’t wait to see her so we could let the shenanigans begin! We have met up in places and even flown together but we have never gone out of the country together. So this was big!

With about 6 hours until our next flight, finding a local spot to eat seemed like a great idea! And boy was it! With the help of Yelp, we found Chasin’ Tails in Centreville. I set up an Uber and we were on our way!

Luggage and all! The airport didn’t have a locker for us to store our things, so we just wheeled it on in the restaurant with us! Our carry-on’s conveniently rolled right underneath our table and our backpacks beside us! Now for drinks! Nice! Nothing like a drink that doesn’t taste like a drink but delivers a nice buzz! The fish tacos were BOMB and the charbroiled oysters were BANGIN! We ordered half a dozen and we got 7 instead! Yassss!!!! Even though, it didn’t help me out! Kuturah ate the 7th one! I was pleasantly surprised by the crabs. I’ve never really been a huge fan of King crabs, but these were really good! We ordered the crab combo which included King crabs, snow crabs legs, corn, potatoes, and sausage. When I tell you that it was good! Listen…
It was time to head back to the airport, but not before grabbing some miniatures for the “ride.” We walked (with luggage) across the street to a nearby ABC store and got ourselves together real quick! We grabbed another Uber and awaited our next flight! Amsterdam up next!
